The EU Delegation to the Philippines (EUD), in partnership with 14 EU Member States and over 90 higher education institutions from the EU and Philippines, carried out its 12th hybrid European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) in Manila and online on 18 and 19 November 2022.

This year’s theme of ‘Youth for Excellence & Innovation’ looked to the rise of the digital economy, spotlighting a host of degree programs, research facilities, and scholarships related to digital technology and innovation.

Over 8 000 participants interacted with around 110 exhibitors on-site and online from Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Sweden. Among the exhibitors were embassies alongside education and culture agencies, universities, institutes and business schools – many of which conducted their own webinars and consultations for prospective students.

Over the course of the two days, participants physically in Manila and virtually across the Philippines enjoyed comprehensive access to practical information and tips on studying in the EU, mobility projects, partnership opportunities, and blended and distance learning programmes.

Other sessions were dedicated to introducing scholarship opportunities and innovative approaches to research, including EU funding initiatives Erasmus+, Horizon Europe and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.

Also featured were a series of structured webinars moderated by representatives from Philippine higher education institutions, designed to showcase the EU’s strengths in the key areas of IT, digital technology and programming; natural and applied sciences; business, management, accounting and economics; humanities, education and social sciences; and public governance, law and international relations.

Run exclusively online over the previous two years due to COVID-19, EHEF remains the Philippines’ foremost platform for students to expand their networks and connect with leading educational institutions across the EU. Each year it highlights EU innovator and global role in higher education, while facilitating exchange and partnerships among educational institutions from the EU and the Philippines.
